At the bottom of the league, Peacehaven produced an outstanding 4-1 win at home to Ringmer.

Goals came from Rod Davies, John Donoghue, John Digby and Robbie Brown, with Warren Byerley replying for the visitors.

Boss Mick Maskell said: "We played well and it could have been a few more. I think we could do with a few more of those results."

Peacehaven moved up a place but remain in the bottom three as Redhill beat rock-bottom Littlehampton 1-0 thanks to an early goal from John Difford.

Selsey moved four points clear of the danger zone after beating Hassocks 4-2. They led 3-0 at half time thanks to Barry Rishman's opener and two goals from Paul Lee. Derek Chester added a fourth from Scott Hinshelwood's cross early in the second half but Hassocks rallied with goals from Joe Fernley and Pat Harding.

With ten minutes remaining, Selsey keeper Dave Lever was sent off for handling outside his area but the hosts held on.
