I would like to give the biggest thanks to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, especially the doctors and nurses of Bristol ward.
I had the best stay anyone could have had. The nurses worked hard to make me comfortable - my operation was complicated because of mistakes made by another health authority and I nearly did not make it.
We cannot expect our health service to run properly if it is not correctly funded and shouting at nurses and doctors will not make it work more efficiently.
Regularly, I noticed people expect too much from our health workers - Saturday nights are full of drunks and malingerers.
Can anyone be surprised mistakes are made when staff are abused and threatened by such individuals? Physical abuse is a regular occurrence in casualty and, to my surprise, on the wards.
Should I have a grudge against doctors and other staff because I have been let down in the past, so much so I can never work again?
As a normal, thinking person, I do not blame them because I know they are human and work under ridiculous strain.
So, for once, Sussex, thank them, don't abuse them. To all who work for our NHS, thank you for trying so hard to make us well.
