Worthing failed to score for the sixth time in seven games as they went down 1-0 to a late goal at home to Bromley in division one south.
A header from Adolph Amoako clinched victory for Bromley 13 minutes from time to continue Rebels' poor run which has now seen them take only three points from their last five games.
Amoako struck from a cross by Danny Smith and his header from six yards beat the outstretched hand of recalled keeper Matthew May.
Worthing found visiting keeper Chuck Martini, a Moroccan international, in outstanding form and he pulled off a series of important saves.
Martini should have been beaten, however, just after the break when Tom Graves broke through but the Worthing man failed to capitalise.
Andy Alexander, pushed up front with Frenchman Florian Mateos unavailable, was twice denied by Martini in the first half when the keeper also saved from Mark Knee and Wesley Lopez.
Bromley were fortunate not to have had a player sent off on 52 minutes when Gary Drewett retaliated after being fouled by Steve Sargent. The incident was not spotted by the referee who booked Sargent for his challenge.
Worthing, who have now gone five weeks since their last home win, took the game to their opponents and shortly before Amoako's clincher Lopez was thwarted by Martini after beating three defenders.
