Crawley's promotion dreams are over for another year according to Billy Smith but he insists the Reds still have plenty to play for.

Crawley have not won in the Dr Martens Premier for nearly three months and they are now 18 points behind leaders Tamworth after Saturday's 2-1 home reverse against Bath City.

Smith said: "We are 13 points behind the team in third place. One of the top three might slip-up but not all of them.

"It's disappointing. Since we went out of the FA Cup we have been poor, as a squad we have underachieved. We have to take collective responsibility for that, myself included.

"We're not really getting the rub of the green at the moment, but having said that you make your own luck in football."

Reds are still involved in three cup competitions and the FA Trophy tie on Saturday week now takes on added significance, but Smith would dearly like his side to rediscover some league form before they travel to Hayes.

He added: "We have been letting in too many goals and at times we have struggled to win the ball in midfield. Confidence is low, but it's nothing a couple of good results wouldn't put right."

Defender Ben Judge is available for the derby against Hastings United after suspension while Smith must decide which of his four strikers will start.

Danny Hockton came off the bench to score in the 2-1 defeat by Bath while top scorer Dave Stevens, who was relegated to the bench, could be in line for a recall.

United are still without Stuart Myall through injury and the suspended Duncan McArthur, but Danny Simmonds, who missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Halesowen, should return after illness.

Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson is waiting to hear whether St Leonards striker Peter Baker is willing to switch from the relegation strugglers to his promotion-chasing side.
