Inspectors have praised a school for its above-average exam results and highly-qualified teaching staff.
The Ofsted report for Ardingly College said the school had many strengths, including decisive management and excellent inter-personal relationships.
Inspectors said the curriculum offered a broad and balanced education suited to pupils across the full age and ability range.
The school gained top marks for its teaching and the dedication and hard work displayed by teachers and non-teaching staff.
Standards of attainment were good in relation to pupils' abilities and represented good added value, while the curriculum contributed effectively to pupils' intellectual, physical and personal development and prepared them well for further education and employment.
Headteacher John Franklin said: "We are very pleased with the report, which found many strengths and very few weaknesses.
"Our five-year plan covers a number of areas of further development and improvement, which we look forward to introducing."
Work is already under way on building a new boarding house for boys.
