Former boxing champion Chris Eubank is taking on rocker Ozzy Osbourne with his own reality TV show.

Mr Eubank has invited the Channel Five cameras into his Hove home for a pilot fly-on-the-wall documentary.

If the project is judged a success, it could be turned into a full series later in 2003.

The MTV series The Osbournes, following the former Black Sabbath frontman and his disfunctional family, has been a worldwide hit.

Mr Eubank shares his home with his wife Karron, and children Christopher, 13, Sebastian, 11, Emily, eight, and Joseph, six.

The Channel Five show will not be Mr Eubank's first brush with reality TV.

He was the first person evicted from the original Celebrity Big Brother last year, which raised money for Comic Relief.

He also allowed Louis Theroux to follow him around last year for an episode of his BBC2 series.

Mr Eubank was shown teaching the offbeat documentary-maker how to box, and haranguing him for intrusive questioning.

Mr Eubank has also been in talks with Channel Five about a possible Roman gladiator-style bout with old adversary Nigel Benn.

The two ex-boxers would confront each other in an ancient Roman amphitheatre, wielding swords, daggers and tridents.

Mr Eubank's spokeswoman revealed in October that he was interested in the project, but discussions were only in their early stages.

A spokeswoman for Channel Five confirmed the fly-on-the-wall show was going ahead, but was unable to give any more details.

Sham Sandhu, controller of youth and music programmes at Channel Five, told The Guardian: "Eubank is a very misunderstood personality.

"We hope this show will challenge the misconception of him as a caricature, revealing a surprisingly warm, intelligent and entertaining family man.

"Reality TV has become increasingly stale. With this documentary we hope to move the genre forward."
