To family and friends mourning her loss, Page 3 girl Viv Neves will be remembered for her personal qualities and her courageous battle against multiple sclerosis.
Many more people across the country, though, will recall her pioneering nude appearance in The Times in 1971.
The photo may have shocked some of the paper's readers.
But plenty of others saw the picture as a refreshing sign of the (changing) Times.
