It is Tony Booker (Letters, December 30) who has missed the point about "baying hypocrites".
I meant specifically him and was not being politically correct but Biblical - something about being "free from sin, cast the first stone".
It would have been a kindness to let Cherie Blair enter 2003 leaving the whole sorry tale behind her but, as Mr Booker took a last swipe at her, citing the tired media distortions, I must refute them once again.
Everyone in public office makes mistakes. I should not have to say "no one is perfect". Cherie Blair did not know of the criminal's history. She did not tell lies. It was clearly stated it was a misunderstanding between herself and her press secretary. What does Mr Booker hear when truth is verbalised?
I was flattered to read "even more worryingly". Please don't worry about me. I can look after myself. I am a drama teacher and can spot sincerity at a
hundred paces. I saw Cherie Blair sincerely upset, no more, no less. What is Mr Booker, apart from a baying Tory?
