Scott Ramsay scored four goals as Eastbourne Borough kicked off the new year with a stunning 7-0 win over Newport IOW at Priory Lane in the eastern division.
Borough had not played since December 21 but manager Garry Wilson knew a hammering was on the way. He said: "It's about time we did that to somebody. There have been so many games where we have completely dominated but missed chance after chance."
Man of the match Ramsay gave the home side the perfect start with a goal after just three minutes.
Jamie O'Rourke hit the post for Newport a minute later but from then on Borough dominated.
They doubled the lead in the 30th minute when Ramsay was tripped by Peter Tagg in the box and skipper Daren Pearce scored from the penalty spot.
Two goals in two minutes from Mark Goodwin made it 4-0 at half time. In the 40th minute, he followed up Matt Smart's saved shot to make it three, then the striker looped a header over Joe McCormack in the visitors' goal.
There was no way back for Newport and the second half was a one-man show as Ramsay hit three goals in seven minutes to complete a wonderful day for Borough.
His second came in the 46th minute when he beat two players before firing home from 20 yards.
He then tapped home from close range after Goodwin met John Westcott's cross with a header on 69 minutes before finishing with aplomb from Goodwin's cross from the right.
