Insurance against terrorism has rocketed since the events of September 11, 2001.
Shoreham airport has been paying £10,000 a year for this cover but the figure is rising to £23,560 next year. Despite this, the council-owned airport is expected to make a surplus of £11,000 in the next financial year.
Fees, charges and rents are all rising and the airport restaurant is doing better business these days.
The airport is expected to make a surplus of £4,000 in the current financial year.
