A flying instructor clocked doing 102 mph on his motorbike said he was shocked when police pulled him over and told him how fast he had been going.
Andrew Wood, 39, of Wilbury Road, Hove, was on his way to see his son when police stopped his motorbike on the A27 at Shoreham on October 6, last year.
He told magistrates at Worthing: "When police showed me on the speed gun how fast I had been going I was shocked but I have no reason to doubt that it was right. I didn't realise for a second I was going that fast."
Wood, who admitted exceeding the 70mph speed limit, said he had been on his way to help his ex-wife cope with their son, who suffers from a behaviour disorder.
He was fined £205 with £30 costs and six points were added to his licence.
