The Boogie Woogie Beach Bum Bar is an attempt to give Brighton a vibrant alternative to the normal comedy night.

The Komedia has fast become an alternative hub for British performing arts and the Bum Bar will certainly be doing its best to thrust "comedy" into the 21st Century.

It will fuse comedy, club and live music in a way which will astound and excite and amuse Boombaloomba!

After ten years of living in Hove, observing Brighton from a dangerous distance, I felt ready to create a night that truly reflected the community in which I live.

A local show for local people, in the style for which I have become infamous.

I hope to achieve many things through the club.

That is most important. There will be lots to wrap your laughing gear round.

Secondly, to introduce Brighton to its own local oddities and amusements.

Thirdly, to create an environment for immaculate nonsense and also thoughtful complex comedy ideas so performers will be falling over themselves to work the Bum Bar crowd.

I am happy to say the first show is totally local, except, of course for Bazlowski, my DJ pal from Leningrad who will have the place hoppin'.

I have a surprise local outfit.

I am lucky to be able to present Skit Ramaly, the extreme poet from Brighton and we have Hove's hip hop/punk sensation, The Mingers.

I will also be teaming up with Bazlowski to perform the Gay Hooligans.

As people arrive the party will be in full swing. I, Mark Little, will host the show in my own unorthodox fashion.

A show of three halves. A show and a half. The first half is me and only me. Forty minutes of me exploring Brighton.

The second half is the locals' half: Local amusements in the form of two acts and also a chance for the punters to get involved in Poets Win Prizes.

The third half goes "Pier Shaped" as we present the Gay Hooligans.

We then finish off a beautiful night with the world's ugliest band, Mark and the Mingers! The bar is open until 12.30am.

The club takes place once a month until March.

Then there are two in April, leading up to two during the Brighton Festival in May.

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8/£4 concessions.
