I had a Red Rose delivered with my copy of the Leader. How much did it all cost the GMB Union?
The front page states its organiser, Gary Smith, works closely with Brighton and Hove City Council, so perhaps the question is answered.
Or maybe it comes from the £49 million gifted by the Labour Party to buy votes in the east of Brighton, under the umbrella of EB4U?
The Rose goes on to quote extracts from the Queen's speech as if to claim some sort of credit for it. Further on, it appears Ken Bodfish has read and digested the Conservation Newspaper, for at least half his leader item is a virtual copy from it about postal voting.
The other half concerns computers and how they will make it easier to report dumped cars and fly tipping. The problem isn't reporting it, it's getting something done about it.
I note that in reducing carbon our city will "cut its CO2 emissions next year from 489 to 150". I am sure our beggars will welcome it as they sit on our pavements plying their trade.
Column after column of the Red Rose trots out national news and government policy, claiming credit for just about everything.
The reason obviously is the local Labour Party has no triumphs of its own to crow about. On the back page is a photo of the underground entrance to the Regency Square car park, next to another photo of Brunswick Square, Hove, with the biggest lie of all, that the Conservative Party will build a three-storey car park on it, at a loss.
If the voters of Brighton and Hove believe that, they are truly doomed to Labour drudgery for ever.
Incidentally, the Conservative News paper is delivered by hand by dedicated party workers, not by post.
