Roger French implies little attempt was made to provide bus access to the proposed supermarket on the Brighton station site (The Argus, December 27).
In fact, Brighton and Hove City Council's planners had lengthy discussions with both Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company and the developer on the provision of bus services.
They discussed the possibility of routing buses into the development to serve not only the supermarket but also the other buildings and the improved side access to the station, as well as many other measures to support bus services locally.
Unfortunately, as was set out in the report to the planning committee, the bus company did not feel it could either divert existing services or provide a new one.
Its view was there would be insufficient demand for a service. The company was also invited to provide input to the planning brief but declined the opportunity.
