The insecurity of email is legendary. Anyone from system administrators to half the hacking community can read our mail if they want to.
Now there is a simple software tool that allows you to send your business documents without fear of interception.
Wincrypt 2.0 is available as an internet download or boxed product and enables users to apply a basic but powerful password-controlled encryption to their document. All the user has to do is to drag and drop sensitive files into the Wincrypt window, select a password and then mail the "treated" document to its recipient.
This software works well.
I found it easy to use. I was interested in the note from the developers that said they were unable to make the encryption any stronger as it would be breaking the law.
Government departments should not be allowed to dictate the level of security we use to keep our businesses safe.
Giving my colleagues a password is no great task and it would improve security beyond measure.
