I cannot understand why the Home Office and the Grand Ocean Hotel have decided to place asylum seekers in a quiet residential area such as Saltdean, home to a large elderly population and many young families.
The facilities in the community are very limited, the doctor's surgery is oversubscribed and the school is full.
Just what does the Government think these people are going to do, stranded in a residential area?
I understand they need to be housed but, surely, there must be more suitable places which could accommodate them without ruining the lives of a whole community?
I urge local MPs, Brighton and Hove City Council, Lewes District Council and everyone in Saltdean to vigorously oppose this appalling decision.
