Young chefs created some stunning sausage recipes to win a national competition.

Luke Taylor and Lee Greenfield, both 15, of Palatine School, Worthing, dominated the British Meat sausage competition for secondary schools by concocting two sausage dishes.

The competition had been designed to fit into the school curriculum and challenged pupils to focus on sausages in their food technology project work.

Luke's sausage and leek tortilla recipe won first prize and he was presented with a gift worth £100 and a £100 book token for his school.

Tony Goodger, trade sector manager for British Meat Foodservice, said: "The judges felt Luke's recipe was both innovative and nutritionally well-balanced and would fit into any school or food-service environment.

"As an added bonus, Luke's original recipe will be assessed by a leading food-service manufacturer and he may even see it in production."

Fellow pupil Lee earned second place with his sausage stroganoff, winning a £50 gift as well as a £50 book token for his school.
