Mechanics and aircraft engineers of the future have been presented with their awards and diplomas.

Motor vehicle and aircraft engineering students from Northbrook College in Worthing attended an awards ceremony at Northbrook Theatre in the town.

The guest speaker was Sarah Sillars, who was recently appointed chief executive of The Institute of the Motor Industry.

She congratulated the students and spoke about the general trends within the industry, especially the need to raise quality at the servicing end of the market, with a strong recommendation that a professional licensing system should be investigated.

Award winners included:

Awards for Excellence: The Mollison Challenge Trophy - Albert Rickards. The Automative Award for Excellence - Lan Nguyen.

Auto Award winners: Simon Phillips, Laurence Wilson, Ben Barford, Thomas Kite, Matthew Whatley and James Dempsey.

Aero Award winners: Kevin Chessell, David George, Keith Edwards, Trevor Woodgate, Martin Brazil, David Lewis and Richard Cave.
