When Nottingham displayed a mock-up tram, the public showed interest

and Leeds has a forward-thinking council with plans to open three supertram routes in 2007.

From reading letters, ignorance and prejudice is going to stop trams running in Brighton and Hove.

Before I retired, I drove 8ft 2in-wide buses. The tram standard gauge is 4ft 9in wide. The Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company complains cars obstruct buses. Brighton and Hove City Council should ask why people prefer to use cars - I thought the idea was to encourage more to use public transport.
