This little chap is as famous as any Hollywood supporting actor of the thirties and Forties.
J Edward Bromberg was often confused with another of similar stature, Lloyd Corrigan.
Born in Hungary, Bromberg was in the US as a child. In 1938, he appeared in Mr Moto Takes A Chance with Rochelle Hudson and Peter Lorre.
In 1939, he appeared in Jesse James with Henry Fonda and Tyrone Power. In 1940, he was cast in the sequel, The Return Of Frank James, starring Henry Fonda, Jackie Cooper, Gene Tierney and yet another sterling performance from Henry Hull. Bromberg also appeared in The Mark Of Zorro with Tyrone Power and Akim Tamiroff (1940).
His promising career was cut short when he dropped dead in England in 1951, aged only 48.
