Caretaker Whitehawk boss Terry Hall had a few tales to tell his No.1 Ian Chapman after Saturday's crazy 6-6 extra-time draw at home to Eastbourne Town in the Senior Cup.
Chapman was coming back from holiday today but Hall got straight on the phone on Saturday with news of the game.
Hawks were 3-1 up in normal time but then 6-3 down in the extra period. They clawed their way back despite having had Dave Stevens sent-off.
Hall said: "Ian was pleased with the result when I told him. To come back like that was fantastic."
There were two goals each for Tommy Pattenden and Terry Cooper for the hosts and Gary Brockwell and Yemi Odubade for Town.
Meanwhile, A bright start by Pagham helped them win 2-0 at Steyning in the John O'Hara League Cup.
James Mandry finished off a diagonal pass from Bryn Hauxwell for 1-0.
Steyning came back into it after that but the Lions settled the tie through Louis Haga-Hammond with a neat finish from a clearance by keeper Wes Hallett.
