It is very easy to show compassion from a distance. I wonder if Paul Ward and M E Stroud (Letters, January 15).would feel the same if the Grand Ocean Hotel was in their area?
I assume they have no friends in Dover or Hastings, where hotels have been similarly used. If they had, they would realise crime, depreciation in property values and problems with local facilities are very real issues.
The Government is very concerned about the security issue relating to some so-called asylum seekers and, alarmingly, four out of five people refused asylum simply disappear.
I have no doubt if the plans for the Grand Ocean Hotel go ahead it will have a severely detrimental effect on Saltdean and surrounding areas.
