Actor and writer Stephen Fry was in Arundel today completing work on his first film as a director.

Filming of Bright Young Things brought part of the historic town to a standstill as actors recreated scenes from the Thirties.

Maltravers Street was blocked as The Vicarage was turned into a hotel for one shot.

Location manager David Pennington said: "The Vicarage and Maltravers Street were perfect for the scene we wanted to shoot as they look very Thirties.

"We also considered London Road, which has beautiful views of Arundel castle."

The film, written and directed by Fry, is based on the Evelyn Waugh novel Vile Bodies.

The cast includes Dan Ackroyd, Sir John Mills and Peter O'Toole.
