A sports club for children and teenagers with special needs is celebrating its eighth birthday.

Mayor of Worthing Councillor Eric Mardell and his wife Elizabeth will attend the celebrations at Davison Sports Centre, off Selborne Road, East Worthing, on Saturday.

The Worthing Sporting Chance Club, which has about 20 members aged between six and 16, was founded by Ray Page and Pam Yeates, who both have children with special needs.

Activities every Saturday afternoon include trampolining, basketball, tennis, badminton, pool, football and curling, with the stones propelled along on ball-bearings.

Mr Page, of Nutley Crescent, Goring, whose son Jason, 16, has cerebral palsy, appealed for new members and volunteers to join.

He said: "We want to promote the club and get some new members. My son is 16 and will be moving on shortly, as will a number of others."

Mr Page can be contacted on 01903 504021.
