A teenager who led police on a car chase has been warned his offence is so serious he could be sent to a crown court for sentencing.

Daniel Trusler, 18, who only holds a provisional licence, led police on a chase around the Broadwater area of Worthing on January 3.

At Worthing Magistrates Court he pleaded guilty to five driving offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

Peter Lytle, prosecuting, said police started following Trusler's Ford Sierra in Queen Street just after 8.30pm.

He said the teenager, who lives in Walnut Tree Way, Durrington, was chased by police along several roads, that he jumped a red light, ignored a 'No Entry' sign and caused several cars to swerve out of his way.

Police eventually arrested the teenager after he abandoned the car in Rectory Gardens.

Sentencing was postponed until February 11 for pre-sentence reports.

Trusler was released on bail.
