United let slip two precious points in their fight against relegation from the premier division after conceding a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to fellow strugglers Weymouth.

A wonder goal from Nick Hegley looked like clinching victory until Weymouth substitute Alex Browne struck three minutes from time.

Martin Sullivan tried his luck with a curling drive which keeper Dave King could only parry and the ball ran loose for Browne to blast home the rebound.

Hastings had taken the lead five minutes before half time when Hegley scored with a glorious volleyed chip.

Both teams had plenty of chances to add to the scoring particularly in the first half.

Steve Yates and Honey both went close for Hastings while visiting duo Ian Hutchinson and Sullivan also had decent opportunities.

Weymouth dominated in the second half but it was not until the closing stages that they really began to threaten.
