A glaring omission from the Walk of Fame is Ronnie Davies, who was born and bred in Brighton and has kept boxing alive in the city for the past 22 years.
When he opened his gym in Brighton, it was the first boxing gym for 28 years to exist in the city.
Famous people he has trained (and is training) include Chris Eubank, who needs no introduction, Tony Oakey, the current WBU light heavyweight world champion and former Commonwealth light heavyweight, and Howard Eastman, the current British and Commonwealth middleweight champion.
Here is a resum of Ronnie's history and achievements:
Amateur: Twice Southern Counties Schoolboy Champion; twice quarter-finalist British Schoolboys' Championship; Junior British finalist; and Senior Southern Counties Champion.
Professional: Sixth-ranked contender for the British title; Southern Area Champion; voted as one of the top ten boxing trainers in the world; currently training 11 boxers.
Ronnie is well-known and respected throughout the British and worldwide boxing fraternity and I believe he is truly deserving of a place in the Walk of Fame.
