The archive picture of the Sixties Brighton group The Web mentioned their then drummer, Steve Ferroni, and his later "achievements" of playing for Max Bygraves and Duran Duran.
The former would certainly belittle the achievements of this brilliant musician, who is most certainly one of Brighton's unsung heroes.
Steve's first break came with the chance to join the all-Scottish "blue-eyed soul" group The Average White Band following the tragic death of their original drummer, Robbie McIntosh, from a drugs overdose.
Steve made six albums with the band and toured the world extensively until they disbanded in the late Seventies.
From here, he went to the US and based himself there as a session studio and touring drummer.
Among the artistes he has recorded and toured with are Chaka Khan, Scritti Pollitti, Stevie Wonder and George Benson. For many years he has been a (semi) permanent member of Eric Clapton's band.
I believe Steve attended Patcham Fawcett School and many of his family still live in Brighton and Hove.
If you were to take a poll of the world's best drummers, Steve would most certainly be in the top 20 - the guy is incredible.
A place on the Brighton Walk of Fame would be more appropriate than some of the current list that have tenuous links with Brighton, such as The Who.
While they have been a great band, they were not born here but simply played here a number of times in the Sixties (similarly Fatboy Slim and Zoe Ball, who only recently moved here).
