The only way to solve the traffic congestion in Brighton and Hove is to adopt the Tokyo system - No garage or off-street parking area: No car.

Many parts of the city are choked with cars because their owners have no parking facilities.

As they live centrally and probably work centrally, there is no real need for them to have a car. They should use public transport, which is widely available centrally.

Even the outlying areas have similar problems due to car owners' apparent reluctance to use their garages other than as store rooms.

The worst offenders are those people with more than one car. The two-car or, in some cases, three-or-more-car families should be required to restrict their use to one car in town.

Spending vast sums of money and desecrating the Downs to build park-and-ride car parks is quite ridiculous.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Likewise with car drivers.

If it is more convenient to drive into town, they will ignore this park-and-ride unless you offer an incentive. The tickets issued should cover all journeys by bus within the town on the day of issue.
