I am devastated to learn St Mary Magdalen Church in Coldean, Brighton, has been vandalised yet again.
This is a symptom of the society we live in - a minority of mindless, heartless thugs causes havoc in what is a place of peace and reflection and a hall that serves the whole community.
The people of Coldean need solutions and action to prevent this from happening again.
What would help? More police on the beat, being pro-active, would go some way to deter all criminals. CCTV cameras would act as a deterrent and aid police in catching the perpetrators.
I call on Brighton and Hove City Council to do its part in not only making the people of Coldean feel safe but also to preserve the community life that is so precious.
It is striking this vandalism has been going on for more than a year. Where are the Labour councillors? What are they doing for the people of Coldean?
It is their duty when this sort of thing happens to show leadership and do all they can to help. The people of Coldean deserve better.
