Worthing's goal drought continued as Horsham YMCA held them 0-0 at Woodside Road.
Rebels, who have failed to score at home for more than two months, could not break through despite extra time and must replay the third round clash next Tuesday.
Worthing welcomed back Ben Carrington and French striker Florian Mateos but a combination of poor finishing and a lack of confidence in front of goal saw them fail to score for the eighth time in ten games.
Wesley Lopez should have put Worthing ahead on 25 minutes when he had a header saved by keeper Jason Dumbrill.
The visitors had another lucky escape 17 minutes from the end of normal time when, from a Gary Young free kick, Tom Graves was off target with a free header.
Graves later headed against the bar from a Lopez corner and, right at the end of extra time, Mark Knee was also denied by the woodwork. Knee saw his effort come back off a post following a cross from the right by Carrington.
Worthing, who have now gone seven games without a win, were guilty of some bad misses and, in the second half, Knee had a left foot shot saved before Andy Alexander put the ball over from a Lopez cross.
The visitors' Ryan Andrews skimmed the bar early on and Wayne Potter had an effort saved by keeper Matthew May in extra time.
