I couldn't agree more with M Stone, from Burgess Hill (Letters, January 25), who wrote about Brighton and Hove turning into a rubbish dump.
How embarrassing for the city that someone living outside its boundaries should feel compelled to write to The Argus about it.
I cannot believe the people in charge of environmental services in the city are not able to see for themselves the crying need for cleaning its streets, pavements, verges and green spaces.
I cannot believe the residents of the city are satisfied with this and are not compelled, like Mr Stone and me, to complain openly about it.
Please, just take a look at the dismal state of the banks of the A27 between Sussex University and Hove. What kind of message is the city trying to give to its taxpayers, workers and visitors?
How can this situation encourage people to take pride in, care for and respect their environment?
