Concern has been raised at plans to change the identity of two villages under a shake-up of boundaries.
Willingdon and Jevington would move from Eastbourne to Lewes' parliamentary constituency if the plans are carried.
However, councillors say strong opposition is forming against the proposals drawn up by the Boundary Commission.
Andy Watkins, district councillors for the two villages, said: "These proposals are based on numbers worked out by bureaucrats with little or no recognition given to strong historical local connections and identities.
"I am convinced the majority of residents of Willingdon and Jevington will not want this change."
He has asked residents who oppose the plans to write to him at 100 Seaside Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3PF.
