I read with interest the article saying Councillor Dee Simson had had complaints about the uneven paving stones in Langley Crescent, Woodingdean (The Argus, January 24 and 28).
Langley Crescent is not the only place suffering from bad, uneven and broken pavement stones in Woodingdean. Every road is the same. We are risking life and limb with every step we take.
When the men were resurfacing the road I spoke to one of them who said the work on pavements is done in the summer and on the roads in the winter. I think the repair work should be done no matter what the weather.
Perhaps it is cheaper for Brighton and Hove City Council to pay compensation to the people who are injured from falls on broken paving stones than to pay the men for repairing them. Could the council give some thought to what I have said before someone has a really bad fall? I fell last year and had to have eight stitches in my lip. The one broken paving stone was replaced but all the cracked and broken stones around it were left and are still cracked.
