Uckfield are two wins away from a return to the London Leagues after a 22-8 win over a spirited Horsham side maintained their six point lead at the top of Sussex One.
Three first-half tries provided the hosts with the platform for victory. Winger Lee Evans rewarded early pressure when he went over before a break by Brian Maywood and Ed Gannon set up Leigh Bialik for their second try.
Evans added a second to make it 17-3 and completed his hat-trick within a minute of the re-start.
Horsham grabbed a consolation try in the last minute but Uckfield know a victory at Pulborough next weekend will mean they can clinch the title in front of their own supporters against bottom of the table Rye on March 1.
Crowborough came from 17-0 down to complete the double over Seaford with a 23-20 win at the Salts.
Seaford felt the turning point came early in the second half when the visitors re-quested uncontested scrums after one of their forwards was injured.
Their talented back division took control, levelling the contest with two tries, one of them converted, and a penalty before a successful penalty in the last minute won the game.
Seaford had got up a head of steam early on thanks to tries from Ben Cox, Andy Gunstone and skipper Pete Joy.
Hastings & Bexhill had a 42-0 win over Rye.
Sussex Division Two: Midhurst 29, Barns Green 3; Newick 5, Burgess Hill 20; Royal & Sun Alliance 8, St Francis 8.
