Two flats suffered late-night flooding caused by a faulty washing machine.
Hove firefighters were called to a fourth-floor flat in Conway Court in Clarendon Road, Hove, at 11.20pm last night.
The flat was heavily-flooded and water also seeped through the floor into the flat below.
Leading Firefighter Keith Darlington said: "The flat was covered in water, a couple of inches deep. We managed to get as much out as possible.
"It was due to defective plumbing to a washing machine. The people living in the flat had got out before we got there. There is flood damage but the flat is still inhabitable."
