Whitehawk moved into the top three in division one after goals by Kevin Townsend and Simon Rowland earned them a 2-1 victory over visitors Ringmer.
Former Hawks player Matt Pachent was on target for Glenn Burvill's side before Rowland decided the issue with his 85th-minute finish.
Hawks player-boss Ian Chapman said: "It was a hard-fought win but we dominated the first half and really should have been more than 1-0 up at the break.
"Again I played some of our young lads and 17-year-old Matt Hill was superb at wingback."
Redhill did Hawks a favour with a well-deserved 2-0 triumph at high-fliers Pagham and victory also lifts them further away from the danger zone at the bottom of the table.
Adrian Moses and Nathan Hartigan struck for Redhill to send manager Ian Dawes home happy.
He said: "They were third in the table going into this so that makes the result pleasing. Hopefully this will help prove to us that we are better than our position in the table."
