Bognor bounced back from last week's 4-0 humiliation to put their promotion bid back on track with a 3-0 win at Corinthian Casuals.

Jack Pearce gave loan signing Michael Harper a place up front with Matt Russell, but the visitors had to defend in the early stages with Elliot Lyward and Justin Gergiou both going close for Casuals.

Having weathered the expected early pressure, Bognor settled and after Kevin Murphy had gone close with a header they went in front in the 27th minute when Jodey Rowland played into the feet of Harper who turned his marker before firing a low shot past keeper John Hotchkiss into the far corner.

Hotchkiss denied Matt Russell before Bognor doubled their lead on 44 minutes when Harper turned in Richard Hudson's low cross.

Casuals had another good spell after the break and Danny Arkwright's header was cleared off the line by David Birmingham.

But Russell wrapped up the points in the 59th minute when he finished the best move of the game by delightfully chipping the ball round his marker before blasting home from the angle of the six yard box.

Bognor boss Jack Pearce said: "After what happened in midweek when we lost 4-0 I could ask no more, the response by the players was what I hoped to get, but didn't know if I would.

"I thought the whole team worked to show that they have got what you need to succeed."
