Albion's spectacularly revived survival bid receives another boost today with the addition to the squad of Ivar Ingimarsson.

The Icelandic international is signing on a month's loan from Saturday's Withdean victims Wolves with a view to staying for the rest of the relegation fight.

We revealed details of the deal last Thursday. It was delayed because Wolves would not let Ingimarsson play against them for Albion, but he travelled down to watch their shock 4-1 defeat.

Boss Steve Coppell, breaking his silence over the move, said: ""We have got seven games coming up in March in what could be 24 days and I wouldn't be doing my job properly if we lost games because of lack of numbers.

"It's one more body. At Brentford last year Ivar played for me as a defender, he can play in midfield, he is a terrific athlete and a nice young man who will fit in with the players here.

"As I've said many times, that is an important ingredient in anyone coming to this club, being able to slot in."

Albion are on the coat-tails of Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke, while remaining five points adrift of Grimsby in the coveted fourth-bottom spot, following their most emphatic victory of the season.

Coppell said: "It's still all down to us. As long as we are in contact with the teams around us it's a massive motivation for everybody.

"When you get a big gaps between yourselves and the other teams and that fourth place then you feel as if you are stranded and the win has little or no effect.

"This win keeps us right in touch. We've been playing good football for six or seven games and I don't think we've had the return we deserved.

"It was a really big result. Good results bring belief and belief brings confidence.

"We are building one brick at a time and that wall of confidence is a slow one to build and then make sure it doesn't get knocked down. I said at Walsall you get out what you put in but it doesn't come in equal installments.

"The scoreline flattered us slightly, but such is football."

Bobby Zamora, who opened the scoring with his ninth of the season, has been included in David Platt's England under- 21 squad for tomorrow night's friendly against Italy in Carrara.
