I am no fan of the Palace Pier but it speaks volumes that it reopened just hours after a major fire.
What a contrast with the West Pier, which started slipping into the sea six weeks ago.
Despite much calm weather since, nobody has lifted a finger to start removing the tattered remains of the concert hall.
Was the West Pier Trust set up to look after the pier or as a hobby for socialites?
