The University of Brighton has been one of the city's biggest success stories in the past decade.
It started as separate colleges which came together to form a polytechnic. Ten years ago it was granted university status.
Since then it has grown both physically and in reputation until today when 1,348 students will receive awards.
It has a well-deserved reputation for arts and design but recent advances have been made in subjects ranging from medicine to management of digital TV.
The university is also a significant player in ensuring Brighton and Hove's prosperity. It is one of its biggest employers.
With Sussex University and City College, it is also playing a part in transforming Brighton and Hove into a young and vibrant city.
