So, Stuart Welling is now one of the best-paid health supremos in the country, last year making £145,000 from running the merged health trusts of Brighton and Haywards Heath (February 12).
He must be giving real value for money to be coining that much.
Is he any relation to another Stuart Welling, one-time chief executive of Brighton Healthcare NHS Trust, who only a year ago was in danger of losing his job because, according to government statistics, he ran one of the worst health trusts in the country until it was combined with the far better performing Haywards Heath one?
