Which authority polices the illegal parking in George Street, Hove?
When I take my lunch hour at 1pm, there are cars parked in George Street and, often, driving down the road as pedestrians are walking in the so-called pedestrianised area.
Either it is pedestrianised between 10am and 4 pm or it is not.
I spoke to a traffic warden who was working at the bottom of George Street in Church Road last year and was told they had no authority over this street.
I also called their office and received no satisfactory response.
On Monday, I spoke to a traffic warden patrolling Haddington Street, who said they have no authority over this street but that it came under Brighton and Hove City Council and the shop owners.
I noticed that a bollard, along with the concrete paving, had been knocked over.
The situation is farcical and dangerous for the unwary, who presume they are safe in walking along the street.
Surely it is not up to the shop owners to dictate? It is also a freebie for those who can get away with not buying parking vouchers.
Please, could someone enlighten me?
