I was under the impression the police always did whatever was necessary to preserve life.
I never thought for one minute they could make the decision someone is dead. They are not medically qualified.
Surely, if is it too risky to rescue someone - who must be presumed to be alive - the relevant rescue services and medical personnel should be called as soon as possible?
Assuming someone is dead is for a medically qualified person to decide.
Mrs Shelley must be distraught about her son. For God's sake, this must never happen again.
