Volunteers are needed to help expand the Worthing Walking To Health keep-fit scheme.
The scheme was launched two years ago as part of an initiative by the British Heart Foundation and the Countryside Agency.
Worthing's scheme has more than 100 people signed up and offers three mid-week daytime walks from three community centres at: Heene, leaving on Tuesdays at 10am; Broadwater, leaving on Wednesdays at 10am; and Durrington, leaving on Wednesdays, at 2.30pm.
Worthing Borough Council wants to offer walks in the evening and on weekends but more walk leaders are required.
Scheme co-ordinator Annabelle Trent said: "We've got an excellent group of volunteer walk leaders who do a brilliant job at the moment and anybody joining this year will have the support and advice of these experienced people.
"I hope more people will feel able to volunteer because I know they will get an enormous satisfaction from being part of the Worthing scheme."
The aim of the scheme is to encourage people of any age to become more active and improve their health.
Volunteers do not need previous experience of leading walks because a full day's training is provided. Walk leaders do not have to be able to cover long distances.
The free leadership training course is being held in Worthing on March 10.
