A planning application has been placed to build 21 houses on the former Clyde public house and gardens in Bristol Gardens, Brighton.
A couple of years ago, I saw a map of The Clyde set out at the turn of the last century, before the builders' merchants was behind it.
The gardens were extensive, with a central fountain and paths leading to it, bordered by rose beds. I would like to obtain this map before The Clyde is pulled down and the history of the gardens lost.
Would the brewery have copies of the map? Do readers know which brewery The Clyde was under? Can any reader who has seen or has any knowledge of the gardens write to me at 11a Hereford Street, Brighton BN2 1JT, with information? I will try to do a brief history of the pub.
