Following the article about dog mess (The Argus, February 20), I felt I must write about the Patcham area.
What has happened to the dog owners of Patcham who allow their dogs to foul the pavements and parks?
I am a dog owner myself - not particularly young - and if I can make the effort to pick up what my dog leaves behind, why cannot others do the same?
I feel very strongly about having to dodge this awful mess on the ground, especially as it also affects blind people, parents with pushchairs, elderly people and, indeed, other dogs who walk in it.
There are plenty of bins around in the parks for depositing dog waste so there is no excuse. Or your little bag can be taken home and put into your dustbin instead of the mess being carried to other people's homes on their shoes.
This fouling gives the rest of us - who do pick up after our dogs - a bad name. No wonder there are complaints about dog owners.
To the dog-owners concerned - you know who you are - shame on you.
Please have a little consideration for others who use the pavements and parks, particularly little children.
This problem seems, for some reason, to have become much worse recently. Is this just a couldn't-care-less attitude towards others?
-Mrs J P, Patcham
