If you want an inexpensive digital camera and do not want to compromise too much on quality, take a look at the new Gsmart LCD3 camera from Mustek.
Tiny and lightweight, it offers 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution as standard and has a built-in LCD monitor so you can see exactly what your picture will look like.
The camera is finished in silver and weighs so little it could sit all day in a shirt pocket without causing a crease.
It comes complete with battery, software, USB lead and a dinky little velvet bag to keep it in.
It is supplied with a single installation CD that includes Photo Express, Photo Explorer, Cool 360 and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
This little box really surprised me. Okay, the LCD is not the brightest I have ever seen but it is perfectly suitable for the purpose.
There are only six buttons on the camera, making it extremely easy to use and it only took me about five minutes to work out all the functions.
Downloading was just as easy and relatively fast.
The software provided does just about anything most people would want, although the image manipulation software package was a bit short on features.
I was delighted with the results, which were far better than any other "micro-camera" I have reviewed.
The images were admittedly small but perfectly formed and extremely good quality, given the price.
