Labour MP David Lepper is making a last-minute effort to stop three post offices from being closed.
He is holding talks tomorrow with David Bland, regional chairman of the Post Office watchdog Post Watch, at the House of Commons.
The Brighton Pavilion MP is keen to save offices at Bates Road, Ditchling Road and Havelock Road, which are due to shut next month.
Last week Trade Minister Stephen Timms told him he would look into the consultation process.
Mr Lepper also wants an investigation into whether the Post Office has considered all the criteria for closures, including difficulty getting to alternatives.
Mr Lepper said: "I will be asking David Bland if he has powers to suspend these closures until there has been an investigation."
Hove MP Ivor Caplin will also be at the meeting to discuss proposed closures in North Hangleton and in Old Shoreham Road by the Knoll estate.
