Worthing leaked four goals in a 25-minute spell in the second half as their poor run continued with a 4-1 defeat at Croydon last night.
It all went wrong for Rebels after Gary Young had given them a 56th minute lead from the penalty spot.
Debutant goalkeeper Luke Burton, signed from Merstham and called up with Matthew May relegated to the bench, was beaten four minutes later at the near post by a 20-yard shot from Kris Hollidge.
Rebels' new striker Phil Churchill headed a cross by Wesley Lopez over before Mark Tompkins drove Croydon ahead with a 20-yard shot which took a wicked deflection. Trevor Reddick put the game out of Worthing's reach by heading in a cross from Darren Hall on 73 minutes.
An unhappy night was completed five minutes from time when a lob from 30 yards by Craig Dundas went between Burton's hand and the underside of the bar.
